Today our teams went to Rolling Meadows HS to compete in the 6th WildStang VEX Competition. The field was composed of 33 teams, 4 of which were teams from our club. Our Teams 1, 2, 3 and 5 competed and represented our school well. The best part of the competition was the constant stream of ideas that were flowing through our students, I can't wait to see what they try next after this competition. See the full results here.
Team 3 finished with a 1-7 record during competition, but still ended up in the final matches. This team learned the importance of having time to test their design before the competition today. The thing this team should hang their hat on is that the last match that was their best with a re-designed and recoded robot from moments before the match started.
Team 2 finished 5-3 during qualifications and was ranked the 5th best team through the qualification rounds. Right before the finals matches started team destroyed their lifting mechanism while practicing and ended up knocked out of competition during the finals matches.
Team 5 finished with a 7-1 record out of the qualifications, this ranked them 3rd overall. THIS TEAM IS MADE OF ALL FRESHMAN. Wow! Big things to come for this group.
Team 1 finished with a 5-3 record and was placed 9th overall for qualification matches. They had a very well designed robot but some aspects of the robot were not performing as they had been anticipated and they didn't really have time to practice. It was great however to see the judges recognize the CREATEivity of this team and the execution of their design.
